The first lesson of the cake-making class and we made 2 emulsified sponge cakes - Egg Sponge Cake and Swiss Roll.
The recipes were relatively easy to follow through as compared to the pastries’ recipes. And I decided to partner with one of the other 3 classmates from the previous pastry-making class since both of our partners […]

I think I’ve found the ‘perfect’ formula for a really sinfully rich cheesecake! Well, at least to me, it’s perfect. It’s everything I want in a cheesecake… smooth, rich and satisfying, to say the least.
Not that the other cheesecake recipes I’ve tried so far are not good. It’s just that this particular one suits my palate better.
I […]

This recipe is provided by colleague J, who asked for the recipe from her church-mate after tasting the cheesecake made by her.
I’m not totally satisfied with the results of the cheesecakes I’ve been trying so far. Lori’s Decadent Cheesecake is a little difficult to emulate for I cannot find the brand of condensed milk she recommended. The […]

I meant to bake these cookies on Friday evening after a fruitful trip to Kinokuniya at Ngee Ann City (new additions to my baking books collection yet again), but was too tired when I got home. As always, I was surfing my favourite recipes resource blog - Nic’s Bakingsheet when I came across this simple yet interesting recipe for sugar […]

My birthday gift from The Hubby finally arrived today. Well, not exactly… since the postman did come to our doorstep to deliver the parcel on Saturday when no one was home.
The Hubby was very nice to spend his off-day travelling to the Post Office Centre in Paya Lebar to pick up the parcel for me despite nursing […]

I have another new ‘toy’ currently stranded in the States. It’s a 24-cupcakes caddy/carrier which I saw on Linen ‘n Things, and they do not ship to Singapore.
So, I implored my colleagues working/training over in the States to get that carrier for me. And they were very nice to accede to my request without much […]

I wonder who was the brilliant guy who decided to put oreos into cheesecakes to form this irresistable combination.
I’m really no big fan of cheesecakes, but I can appreciate a good one when I taste one. Since colleague K at work requested for a cheesecake, I decided to try this recipe (for the 2nd time) […]

The Hubby was away on a vacation with a colleague for the past 5 days. To celebrate his homecoming (albeit a late one due to flight delay), I decided to bake his favourite - peanut butter cookies.
I don’t mind peanut butter, but I’m not a huge fan. On the other hand, The Hubby has a […]

The grand finale of the pastry-making class I have been attending… Choux (pronounced as “shoo”) pastry! Don’t the cream puffs, chocolate eclairs and swan pastries look delectable? Yummy!
Choux pastries are a lot easier to bake than I imagine them to be. But I seriously need more practice in learning how to pipe the roux. The […]
