It’s a Small World!

Well, I did bake some choux pastry last night while nursing a migraine at the same time.  The choux pastry turned out perfect!  It was an effortless effort on my part (well, unless you count chasing 2 greedy dogs out of the kitchen as effort), and I was wondering the whole night why my 2 classmates had problems baking their choux pastry.

Till I tried making the custard cream.  Total disaster.  I think the problem lies in the milk I used.

And hence I decided to do some research on my own, because I vaguely recall that my baking class instructor did not follow the recipe in the our class material (but I failed to make any notes on that, I wonder why).

A simple google search led me to Kitchen Capers, a local cooking/baking forum.  I had an impression that I had once registered on this forum, and so I clicked on the memberlist and scrolled to ‘C’ to check if I am indeed on the list.

I didn’t manage to locate the usual nick I use (which meant that I need to sign up to join the forum), but what I happened to locate was the nick of an online friend I made (and lost contact) about 3 years ago on a local forum for brides-to-be.  And to my pleasant surprise, her blog was attached to her username.  Hence I clicked on the blog, fully intending to hook up with her again.

The second pleasant surprise of the day?  From her blog, I found out that she is actually the wife of a fellow golden retriever owner I got to know on a local dogs forum (yes, a forum again :P) and she just gave birth yesterday.

I sms-ed her husband to tell him that, and in less than a minute, my phone rang.  It was his wife, my newly-found old friend.  We chatted for a while before hanging up to let the new mother take some rest.

Doesn’t it make you wonder what a small world it can be?

I have been wanting to join Kitchen caper but now it’s only by invitation and I dunno any members there! Would you be able to “recommend” me if you are registered?

  2. Hi winterbiscuit,

Unfortunately, I have not heard from the Administrator of Kitchen Capers either. I didn’t know it’s by invitation only! Oh that won’t be a problem then. I know someone who is very active in the forum. I’ll get her to help and keep you advised. Just that I don’t know when she will have the time, ‘coz she just gave birth. :)
