Nephew’s Birthday Cake
Like I’ve mentioned in the previous posts, my cousin’s son aka my nephew just celebrated his 1 year-old birthday over the weekend with our extended family.
I didn’t bake the birthday cake. I wished I were good enough, but my skills are really not up to the task yet. Still, I want to share the picture of his birthday cake here.
My cousin ordered this from Prima Deli Toa Payoh Central, I think. I’m not sure if she got it from the Toa Payoh Central or the Ang Mo Kio Central branch, ‘coz hey, our 2 cousins (who are siblings) own and run each of the two branches.
The cake is soft, light and very nice. Despite having a few layers of cream in betweens layers of the light butter cake, it was really just right. So good that I helped myself to a second, and subsequent a third piece.
I was just telling The Hubby that I do have a last resort to act on should I fail to find a traditional mooncake recipe soon. I have 2 commercial kitchens (comes fully equiped with competent chefs) accessible to me, only if I open my mouth and ask. My cousins, I’m sure, will be more than willing to oblige (’coz it’s not like I am in any position to threaten their business once I’ve learnt how to make those mooncakes)!
