Pooch Food : Beef Lagsane
It’s been a while since I baked something for my 2 resident furkids. And I have a recipe I’ve been meaning to try for a while. It’s beef lagsane which my goldens’ godma L created, and they were both fortunate enough to have tasted it before when they were staying with her for 2 weeks in April while we went holidaying in Spain.

Beef Lagsane
8 strips bacon
1 kg minced beef
oregano powder
mixed herbs
2 cloves garlic, chopped
3 eggs
2-3 packs mozazarella cheese
1/2 cup mixed vegetables
- Preheat oven to 200°C.
- Fry the bacon in a saucepan. No oil is required. Keep the bacon oil.
- Mix the minced beef, oregano, herbs, garlic and eggs together. Mix well.
- Begin with a generous layer of mozarella cheese at the bottom of a 1.5 qt bakingware.
- Put a layer of beef misture on top of the cheese layer.
- Lay about 4 pieces of bacon on top of the beef mixture.
- Sprinkle GENEROUSLY with cheese.
- Repeat steps 5-7 once more time.
- Distribute the mixed vegetables above the layer of cheese.
- End with a thick layer of cheese at the top to the brim.
- Bake for 5 minutes and remove the lagsane from the oven to sprinkle more cheese to the brim.
- Bake for another 20 minutes or so.
- Remove bakeware from the oven and leave to cool for a while before serving your furkids.
Yield : 1 1.5qt bakeware container
The initial recipe called for the beef mixture to be the bottom-most layer, but I found it difficult to remove the lasagne after halving it for my 2 furkids. Hence The Hubby and I discussed about it and thought it might be better to have a layer of cheese beneath the beef mixture first.
It looked messy by the time the lagsane was served in my furkids’ bowls. Not that it matters to them at all, I think.
