A Slight Move Soon…
I could almost hear you exclaiming, “HUH WHAT? A move is a move. What’s a slight move?”
I’m thinking of moving the blog to a sub-directory of this url, that’s all. It’s just a little tricky and I’ve been too afraid to try because the last time my fingers were ‘itchy’ (upgraded the wordpress version), my whole blog went missing. I had to email my web host to please restore my previous version. That is despite my following every single instruction spelled out in Fantastico, including backing up my files.
I have a phobia of making changes to the blog, including changing the template. I have a terrible record. And I think the folks at Poznet already know me as ‘The-Girl-Who-Knows-Nothing-But-Likes-To-Fiddle-With-Her-Blog-Too-Much’.
Let me take this opportunity to convey my apologies to those who do not like/celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival. I’m afraid you are going to see more of mooncakes and ‘piglets’ because I have not started on the making/baking of mooncakes for our extended families yet.
And yes, I promised to bake The Hubby some ‘piglets’ over the weekend. But what could I do when I realised I did not have Hong Kong Flour at 9.30 pm on a Sunday night? Abandon the thought and have an early night, of course!

hey CY, u just make me wanna make my own mooncakes. i see that the “trend” of making our own is catching up real fast! i mean, its not like that last year or last last year, but this year, seems like everyone’s doing it. but i wonder izit too late? and the stuffs are like, quite expensive. i saw the wooden mooncake mold in phoon huat, its $14. and the lotus filling is abt $8 for 1kg. im just not sure if i’m willing to do that kinda “investment”. what do u think?
Hi Evan,
It depends on whether you can see yourself making your own mooncakes year after year, I suppose. If you can, it’s definitely worth the investment.
However, if you are really gonna invest, may I suggest you go down to Kwong Cheong Thye and take a look? From what I’ve learnt so far, wooden moulds should be as heavy as possible and without any cracks so that they can withstand the knocking year after year. Get a good one and it can last you for years. The ones at KCT cost close to $30 each.
But do you have the time to use up the 1kg of paste? Coz Mid-Autumn is next Friday… it’s kinda near.
Hi Evan! Hope I am not kpo
You shld try making yr own mooncakes! I was encourage by cadenze’s post and have now made hundreds of them. For a start, you may want to get the plastic mould from Phoon Huat, it’s only S$6 and it gives very good imprint. I remember it cost about S$30 plus and that will be able to give you 40 mini mooncakes for 500g premix
Hi Cadenze!
Like your new layout, very nice and neat, lovely header pix too!
So Evan, are you tempted now?
Thanks Elyn. You reckon I should stick with that pix or should I customise it (i.e. replacing with pics of stuff I baked I’m more satisfied with)? Hmmm… let me go sleep on it.
Saw your the other comment that it doesn’t matches the theme of your site, which is true. But there again, it’s yr blog, as long as you’re comfortable, you like it then it’s good enough - at least that’s what I think. Do things that you like and not to suit the taste of other pple or it will lose the original intention
Elyn, what you say makes sense. I kinda like the pic… looks so serene and calm. And autumn has always been my favourite season. I guess I’ll stick with it for a while then. Till I get sick of it.
caden,
I love the pic too!
Very soothing feel.
