Frequently-Asked Questions

Please read through the FAQs before posting any questions on the blog.  While I try to answer all questions (which keeps coming despite my inactivity on the blog for the past 6 months or so) when I have the luxury of time on hand, it gets very exasperating when the same questions keep popping up over and over again.  I simply cannot relish in the thought of answering the same questions all the time, hence the birth of this list of FAQs.

If you have further requests (apart from recipes not posted on the blog), be nice when you ask for it, and I’ll do my best to answer you.  I do apologise though, if the reply might come a few months late.

  • Do you mind sharing the recipe of the strawberry sweethearts?

Yes, I do mind.  I don’t own the recipe, and I do not have the time to tweak the recipe in order to make it ‘legitimate’ to share it online.  I also don’t know you well enough to do you this extremely big favour; such huge favours are reserved for family members and relatives, and I know they would rather wait for me to make it for them than to do it themselves.  However, what I can do is provide you with the email address of the very nice lady who teaches this recipe at various community centres all over Singapore.  Please contact Valerie at valsworkshop@yahoo.com.sg for her latest workshops.

  • Do you conduct baking classes?  Are you going to conduct one soon?

First of all, I thank you for your confidence in my skills.  I have never intended to conduct any classes/lessons, and will not consider even with popular demand.  I wonder why there have been so many requests, because I don’t think I ever mentioned I thought of conducting classes.

  • Can I have the recipe for this and that, which is not posted on the blog?

No.  Ask a million times and the answer will still be no.  Read this page for my stand on this matter.  Baking is an expensive hobby to a certain extent, and I wish you all the best if paying for some good baking books is not in one of your approaches towards possessing good recipes.

  • Are you taking orders?  Can I order a strawberry sweetheart?

I’m sorry, but I have stopped my shortlived online venture.  I am only taking in selected orders from close friends and family because I simply can’t spare the time while coping with the demands of a full-time job.  I apologise for that.

  • Where did you go for baking classes?

I have attended baking classes at several places because I enjoy the flow of knowledge at these classes.  Some of these places include BITC, Creative Culinaire, Shermay’s and Valerie’s.  Please don’t ask me which place is better; I have gained lots from attending classes at all these places.

  • Where do you usually go to get your baking supplies/stuff?

Phoon Huat is one of the places I frequent.  Apart from that, I also frequent Shermay’s Cooking School and B-I-Y.  I sometimes also shop online.
